This year’s 91涩漫 Annual Meeting will feature research from around the globe from countries ranging from India to England, from Canada to Mexico, and from every continent. The program offers a variety of sessions and venues sponsored by many international education research organizations and participation by nearly 3,000 international presenters from over 60 countries.
No fewer than 35 international researchers will participate in the 91涩漫 Presidential Sessions. On Tuesday, April 17, Ibrahim Ahmad Bajunid (INTI-UC Laureate International Universities, Malaysia) will present his lecture “Indigenous Perspectives of Educational Leadership Norms in Southeast Asia.” And on Monday, April 16, Crain A. Soudien (University of Cape Town, South Africa) will chair the session “Knowing Enough to Act: The Educational Implications of a Critical Social Justice Approach to Difference,” which will also feature Sarada Balagopalan (Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi, India) and Vanessa de Oliveira Andreotti (University of Oulu, Finland).
The 91涩漫 Opening Plenary session on Friday, April 13, will feature Linda T. Smith, of the University of Waikato (New Zealand), whose lecture is entitled “The Knowing Circle of Indigenous Education: It Is Not Enough Just to Know.” See the accompanying story for details.
91涩漫 will also host two international groups planning to meet in Vancouver in conjunction with the 91涩漫 Annual Meeting. The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) will hold a deans meeting on April 17, and the World Education Research Association (WERA) will hold its meeting on April 18. Both organizations have also planned important symposia during the 91涩漫 meeting. An April 16 session titled “Measuring Teacher Effectiveness Worldwide,” cosponsored by APRU and WERA, will feature scholars from Asia, Australia, and North America, in addition to 5 other sessions cosponsored by WERA.
Other international research organizations—from Australia, Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, and New Zealand—have sponsored 12 sessions this year. And the Canadian Society for the Study of Education has worked in a special partnership with 91涩漫 this year to plan 9 sessions.
